Diego Rodríguez (May 02, 2008): A respectful salute, am student of Earth Sciences of the career of Geography at the National University of Colombia – Bogotá D.C. headquarters; for now I do my thesis, several years, I work around of the theme of recycling with a high degree of consciense intergenerational. However, lately the problem of the handling solid waste has increased at a delicate point for the balance of the planet, implying human beings all around the complex issue of global climate change. For this reason, in the company of a friend, took they the decision to create an interdisciplinary group with the object, of raise awareness among people regarding the broadcast of solid waste by each of us and the impact of these, in climates locally, regionally and globally. Initially, sensitizing the population are residents of the city of Bogotá, for , after go to where the spirit leads us. On this basis, we decided to implement our project in the city, in places like public libraries, schools, housing groups, among others. This means working calmly and conceptually adjusted to scientific knowledge, to encourage all generations to plant the seeds of change in each of our consciences about the need to improve our bad habits of consumption. To start, already we are in contact with two residential complexes to make the pilot project of our environmental awareness, and have accepted our proposal; what is done for the care of the environment is well received, however, other contacts have refused because they not have a laptop and a video beam. Taking into account that these residential complexes do not have these resources our work would be interrupted by lack of these two elements. Mr. (s). , I ask you formally contribute as a donor in this case, which aims at sensitizing public opinion in the country of Colombia in its capital Bogotá D.C. our request is a set of instruments: video beam and a laptop to optimize 100 % of their donation with the aim of sensitizing the citizen; to the inhabitant of the Earth, that the planet has a load capacity, and this goes reaching unsustainable limits for that the life take its course. We do not want to convey visions catastrophic or apocalyptic, but if ethics to be played by each of us, of more than six thousand five hundred million inhabitants of the planet, and thus preserve it for future generations and not just for the human species. We investigate on the basis of bibliographical sources with a high degree, of reliability to deliver verified information regarding the scientific method : not distort , not confuse; and most importantly, does not generate panic in people. The sources are : The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), The Fund for Energy Savings in Britain, The Index of Environmental Performance from Yale University in collaboration Columbia University (EPI), among others. Please can you tell me when will your next report be published? (the sooner the better).

Dieter Hirschmann (Apr 24, 2009): Dear Sirs, after reading your EPI study, I got stunned. Costa Rica’s 5th place is what’s surprising me. How could it be, not one waste processing plant, all the shit goes into the rivers, no treatment of black waters, waste is not separated and thrown everywhere. In my poor judgment such a study isn’t at all a help for a development country. It supports the typical latin amcerican mentality: not admitting shortcomings and or mistakes. go to the front page of nation.com from 24th of april, and verify your results
